With the news that the charity single for Haiti has just become the most successful charity single of all time, there was also news that one man had survived in the rubble for four weeks.

The British Red Cross has launched a new initiative through their charity shops to support the survivors of Haiti’s earthquake. People can bring in clothes, books, and other items to their local Red Cross shop and dedicate their donated goods to raise cash for the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Rush Limbaugh, often called the true leader of the Republican Party, has called on Americans NOT to give any money to the Haiti appeals, claiming that they are already getting enough money from US taxes, and that Barack Obama will simply use the money for his own needs.

The cold snap will push the UK’s poorest families into debt as they are forced to borrow money to pay their heating bills. “We’re really concerned about how the poorest families are coping with this cold snap,” said Fergus Drake, Save the Children’s UK Director

As heavy snow continues to fall, British Red Cross emergency teams have mounted a huge response across the country, supporting ambulance services in Greater Manchester, Scotland, Worcester, Shropshire and Staffordshire.
